Corrections

PlainSolarData is computed from public data, and source records can contain errors, lag behind real-world changes, or omit context. We want the numbers to be right. If something looks wrong, please tell us.

Our figures come from data published by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (which reported 124,310 MW of U.S. installed solar capacity in December 2024), the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and the DSIRE incentives Registry, with 137 tracked state and utility programs. According to those agencies, the underlying records are revised periodically; our methodology explains how we ingest each release and how a reported correction is traced back to the source value.

How to report an error

Email corrections@plainsolardata.com with:

• the exact URL of the affected page;
• the specific figure or sentence you believe is wrong;
• what the correct value should be; and
• a link or citation to the official source, if you have one.

How we fix it

Because pages are generated from a shared dataset, we fix errors at the data layer, not by editing one page, so a correction propagates everywhere the value appears. If the error originates upstream (in an NREL, EIA, or DSIRE record), we correct our copy where we can verify the right value and otherwise wait for the next upstream release, noting the discrepancy in the meantime.

What we will and won't do

We correct genuine inaccuracies. We do not remove accurate information simply because it is unflattering, and we will consider removal only where information is materially inaccurate, outdated past its useful horizon, or subject to a legal right under applicable law.
